Border crossing Kazakhstan-Kyrgistan (Taraz)

You get a small paper at the entry, fill it out as of the following example. I got help of some locals, as it’s not in English.

Leave your bike on the right side and go into the building on the left with the pedestrians for the passport control.
After you’ve got your stamps (passport and the paper mentioned above), you can go back and get your bike and drive to the customs booth besides the building.
He will check the stamps on the paper and the passport. Now you can go the exit. There they will take the paper and let you out.

On the Kyrgizstan side you also have to leave the bike and go into the building on the left for the passport control. He spoke English this time, so no issues there.

They refused to give me a ‘temporary import’ paper. I still have the one from Russia, so there won’t be a problem to leave.

Crashed about a week ago

About a week ago I crashed while overtaking a slow truck. It was all my fault, I didn’t see some deep tracks or something.

Crashed onto my left side, the Givi panier got a lot of the hit. the panier holder was out of place and I found out, the Honda lock makes a good hammer to bend back the dents…
My Spot GPS sender also got some scratches. I just got a blue hip the day after.
Unfortunately I didn’t film it. the last photo is from another small fall at the same day. I guess I’ve already been too tired from riding in the sand of the Aral sea.

Cosmodrome in Baikonur!

I’m at the Cosmodrome in Baikonur!

Unfortunately the Sojus rocket launch has been postponed to July 🙁
but I’ve got to see the launch pad from where the current Soyuz rockets has been launched. it’s still the same pad from where Yuri Gagarin and the Sputnik satellite have been launched off!
In the last picture you can see 4 yellow stars which mean the following events:
1. first launch of a rocket into orbit
2. Sputnik launch
3. Yuri Gagarin’s launch
4. 500th rocket launch!

Kazakhstan: bad roads, good roads, flat steppes and wind!

Some roads are just completely destroyed and look like after an air strike: just craters with occasional pavement. But other roads are pretty new and on highway quality. From one condition to the other it’s only a matter of a few meters…

but besides the roads it’s just empty steppes and lonelyness. And WIND! so much space but nearly impossible to put up a tent due to the strong wind!
